History is repeating itself, and the mistake has a familiar name: blind urgency.
Years ago, it was the cloud. Almost overnight, every company "had to" migrate. Organizations jumped in without a strategy, without cost governance, without understanding their own workloads — and, of course, without any clarity on what problem they were actually solving.
The result? Runaway bills, chaotic architectures, and in many cases, real value that never materialized.
Today, the déjà vu is called Artificial Intelligence.
Same Script, Different Technology
We're seeing the same pattern: companies buying licenses at random, pilots that die in the lab, and tools desperately searching for a problem to solve.
The issue isn't the technology — AI works and it's remarkable. The problem is that it's being deployed without organizations truly being ready for it. Without clean data, without defined processes, and without a business objective that can carry the weight of the investment, AI is just an expensive ornament.
The patterns keep repeating:
- Tools before problems: A copilot, a model, or a platform gets chosen… and then everyone tries to figure out "what to use it for."
- Orphaned adoption: Isolated experiments that never scale or integrate into real operations.
- Unprepared data: Without quality information, no AI can generate sustained value.
- No ownership: A project that bounces between IT and the Business without anyone taking responsibility for the outcome.
And so, what should be a competitive advantage ends up being just another project that goes nowhere.
What AI Actually Is
❌ AI is not a toy.
❌ It's not a demo.
❌ It's not just another tool.
✅ It's a structural shift in the way organizations operate.
And like any meaningful change, it requires a foundation.
Start With Understanding, Not With the Tool
Before implementing, it's worth answering a few uncomfortable questions:
- Is your data in good enough shape to support real use cases?
- Which processes have the highest potential for impact?
- Where can you capture concrete, measurable value?
- What conditions need to be in place before you scale?
AI without a foundation is the new "cloud chaos." It isn't a tool; it's a metamorphosis. If you're going to take the leap, make sure the ground beneath you is solid.
Before implementing AI, ask yourself the uncomfortable question: Is my organization truly ready to adopt it?
